Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated, reliable, and customer-oriented Front-End Restaurant Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing order processing, assisting in food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting day-to-day front-end operations. This is a hands-on role that requires multitasking, attention to detail, and a team-player attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Front-End Duties:
- Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently (in-person or via POS system).
- Process payments through cash, card, or digital methods.
- Hand over packaged food to customers in a timely manner.
- Answer customer queries about the menu, ingredients, or restaurant policies.
- Handle basic customer complaints or escalate to management if required.
Operational Support:
- Assist chef with basic food prep tasks (e.g., chopping vegetables, assembling dishes, preparing ingredients) as required.
- Restock front counter supplies and monitor inventory levels.
- Pickup supplies from nearby vendors or stores as directed by the owner.
- Ensure all takeaway and dine-in packaging materials are stocked and ready.
Cleanliness & Maintenance:
- Clean tables, chairs, and the dining area regularly during shifts.
- Perform end-of-day cleaning tasks, including wiping surfaces, sweeping/mopping floors, and sanitizing equipment.
- Wash dishes and kitchen tools as needed.
- Ensure trash is disposed of properly and bins are cleaned.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Follow all health, hygiene, and safety regulations.
- Attend team meetings or briefings as required.
- Open and close the restaurant as per shift schedule.
- Notify management of any maintenance or repair needs.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the restaurant owner/manager.
Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in a restaurant or customer service role is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene.
- Good communication skills and positive attitude.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Physically able to stand for long periods and lift light items.
